Environmental Technicians - Avon Lake, OH

Typical Duties include but not limited to:

  • Employee to work 40 hours per week – 6:00 a.m.-2:30 p.m.
  • Receive and properly segregate hazardous, non-hazardous, RCRA Empty and other drummed material.
  • Collect universal, hazardous and non-hazardous waste and other waste streams throughout the plant and out buildings and transport to the barrel storage building.
  • Segregate, sort and package waste streams for off-site shipment in accordance with Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)requirements.
  • Consolidate sealer buckets and drums for shipment and crush empty sealer drums for disposal.
  • Load semi-trailers and roll-off boxesfor shipment to landfill, recycling center, and any other disposal site
  • Operate fork truck to load/unload trucks, perform and document daily equipment inspection prior to use.
  • Clean/maintain organization and compliance of 90-day Accumulation Area (barrel storage building), including sweeping the floor, labeling and closing drums and general cleanliness.
  • Assist supervisor with response to exterior incidental spills by placing adsorbents on liquids, sweeping or vacuuming solids and containerizing cleaned up materials for proper disposal.
  • Assist supervisor with dumpster inspections,supply delivery, waste pick up and waste organization.
  • Perform inspections of waste storage areas, and emergency equipment, taking corrective action to eliminate deficienciesidentified during the inspection.
  • Inventory maintenance and inspection ofspill kits.
  • Document and inform supervisor of any contamination in plant’srecycling and waste containers.
  • Maintain necessary documentation of waste inventories, inspections and other activities asrequired.
  • Follow all plant- related safety guidelines
  • Maintain RCRA, SPCC and ISO compliance as it pertains to the storage and transportation of wastes.



Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma AND one-year experience in waste management/handling; OR,
  • Any equivalent combination of manufacturing experience, training and/or education.



  • Current 40-hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) with Annual Refresher (desired); will provided upon hire.
  • Current Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA, desired); will provided upon hire.
  • Current 40-hour Department of Transportation (DOT, desired); will provided upon hire.
  • Current Fork Truck Operator Training (desired); will provide upon hire.
