Total Waste Manager - Northern Indiana/South Chicago, IL
 

General Description:

Coordinates all onsite activities at client location or locations in relation to the storage, transportation and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous wastes and other related services following Federal, state and local regulations. Supervises and plans activities of onsite personnel. Serves as liaison between client and vendors in relation to service issues. Maintains pre-established standards for safety and environmental issues.

Typical Duties include:

  • Comply with MPS Group’s management system policies and procedures.
  • Assist with client and vendor financial obligationsincluding invoicing, reporting and contracts.
  • Coordinate logisticsfor transportation of hazardous waste, universal waste and non-hazardous waste from clientsite including profiling, scheduling, manifesting and physically loading bulk and drum loads.
  • Ensure proper containers are readily available for all hazardous and non-hazardous waste.
  • Responsible for labelling drums before they are moved into and for proper storage in waste building.
  • Develop and maintain a waste sampling plan
  • Maintain all waste characterizations and profiles onsite including laboratory data/MSDS of all waste stream are maintained onsite and readily available.
  • Maintain all waste manifests and shippers as it relates to waste shipments at the facility.
  • Maintain training records of all TWM personnel regarding DOT and RCRA training.
  • Maintain monthly records of all waste stream quantities.
  • Maintain quarterly reconciliation spreadsheets, daily activity log, monthly recycle report.
  • Input all waste data into customer waste reporting system on a weekly basis.
  • Create and distribute appropriate communications to the plant as it relates to waste management. Including but limited to a monthly newsletter.
  • Actively participate in waste reduction and recycling projects.
  • Participate in response to emergencies that result in the generation of waste in and outside plant to prevent storm water contamination.
  • Maintain appropriate spill equipment to respond to emergencies that occur within the waste building.
  • Ensure culture ofsafety by ensuring site personnel are properly trained to perform assigned duties and comply with safety, environmental, Federal, state and local regulations.
  • Proactively work with customersto establish reuse, reduction, and recycling options for waste streams.
  • Conduct regulatory inspections applicable to the facility.
  • Manage the contract per the current cost budget and seek out internal/external cost savings
  • Supervises personnel necessary to fulfill requirements of contracts.
  • Assist with large projects that generate out of scope wastes.
  • Attend Departmental and or contractor meetings.
  • Complete all other assignments made by management.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental or technical field;
  • Positive customer service skills;
  • Previous experience in the hazardous and solid waste industry;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications;
  • RCRA/HazWoper/DOT Certified
